SAPPORO – AFC Champions League quarter-finalists played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Consadole Sapporo in the 23rd round of 2008 J.League matches on Wednesday.
Consadole’s Brazilian striker Davi gave the home side an 11th minute lead only for Satoshi Yamaguchi to draw Gamba level in the 27th minute.
Parity lasted just three minutes with another of Consadole’s Brazilians Claiton making it 2-1 on the half-hour mark.
The scoring continued with Shinichi Terada levelling the match three minutes later but the hosts were to have the final say in a see-saw first-half when Anderson, yet another Brazilian in Toshiya Miura’s side, making it 3-2 to Consodale going into the interval.
But Gamba, who take on Syria’s Al Karama in the last eight of this year’s AFC Champions League, were not to be denied a share of the spoils with midfielder Tomokazu Myojin netting a 71st minute equaliser.
