KOBE – AFC Champions League 2008 quarter-finalists Kashima Antlers came from a goal down to defeat Vissel Kobe away on Wednesday as the reigning J.League champions remained one point behind leaders Nagoya Grampus.
Yoshito Okubo, the 2003 AFC Youth Player of the Year, put Vissel one-up a minute before half-time only for quick-fire goals from Marquinhos (58th) and Shinzo Koroki (59th) to give Kashima their 12th win of the season.
Meanwhile, Marquinhos’ former employers Shimizu S-Pulse let slip a 2-1 lead as Nagoya Grampus won 3-2 to keep hold of top spot.
Japan international Keji Tamada cancelled out Shinji Ozakazi’s sixth minute opener in the 26th minute only for Takuro Yajima to restore Shimizu’s lead a minute into the second-half.
But parity was soon restored when Magnum equalised three minutes later before Tamada sealed the win that kept Nagoya top with his second in the 52nd minute.
