Defending champions North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA) maintained a slender lead at the top of the Manipur State League after a 2-2 draw away to Manipur Police during the third round of matches.
NISA are joined on seven points at the top of the Vision India-inspired League by Southern Sporting Union and Trugpu, but lead the standings on goal difference.
Southern scored a 2-0 away victory over Tiddim Road Athletic Union while Trugpu had a similar win on the road at AMOFA.
Police player Nilakumar Singh equalised in the 84th minute with his second goal of the match to deny NISA maximum points.
NISA fought back after Nilakumar’s 32nd-minute opener with Santosh Singh levelling matters in the 37th minute and Bijen Singh giving them the lead after 64 minutes.
Neroca are fourth on six points after their 4-1 victory over Phoudel Youth Club.
The League is part of Project Manipur, which comes under the AFC’s Vision India scheme to lift the standard of football in the country.
