Wuhan Hongxin clinched the Wuhan City League title after the season’s dominant team collected their 11th win in 12 matches recently.
Hongxin scored a 3-0 away victory over Wuhan Football School, giving them 33 points, eight ahead of Jiangjun Street and Donghong Honda.
With only two rounds remaining, Hongxin cannot be caught.
Jiangjun Street did their best to stay in contention, beating Bolian Wood 2-1 on the road. But their three defeats and one draw meant they were always playing catch-up.
Donghua also put up a valiant fight, thrashing Huachuang Engi 6-2 away in their 12th match.
However, they finished with the same record as Jiangjun, with eight victories, one draw and three losses.
In the other match in the eight-team league, Wuhan Shengdong scored a 3-2 home victory over Hubei New Steel.
The Wuhan City League is an initiative of the Vision China, Wuhan Project, which comes under the AFC’s overall Vision Asia programme to raise the standard of football in the continent.
It is the first league across all five Vision China cities (Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu, Nanjing and Zibo) to produce a regional champion.
