KATHMANDU: Regar TadAZ of Tajikistan lifted the inaugural AFC President's Cup after blanking out Kyrgyzstan's Dordoi-Dynamo 3-0 in the final on Saturday.
Regar carried out the demolition in a clinical and ruthless fashion, dictating the pace at will and tightly controlling the match at the packed Dashrath stadium.
The Tajik club never looked back after Nizom Rakhimov danced past three defenders and let loose a stunning drive from 35 yards in the seventh minute to open the scoring. Odil Irgashev went close after 31 minutes when his fiery right-footed shot sailed over by inches. Six minutes before half-time Dzhomikhon Muhidinov beat the off-side trap but failed to get the ball past Dordoi goalkeeper Zakir Djalilov. The first half ended 1-0.
Rustam Khodjaev doubled the advantage for the Tajik side from the spot in the 70th minute, and moments later a mistimed clearance by the Dordoi goalkeeper fell to Khurshed Makhmudov who made no mistake and sealed the win.
