KUALA LUMPUR: Group A winners Japan have been among the most impressive teams during the AFC Under-19 Women’s Championship and coach Morinao Imaizumi is hoping their form will hold when they meet China PR in the semi-finals at Kuala Lumpur Cheras Stadium on Saturday. Japan stunned favourites DPR Korea 3-0 with their flowing brand of football in their opening Group A match before recording victories over Korea Republic (2-1) and India (6-0). Imaizumi refuses to under-estimate China, who only managed to finish second in Group B following a 1-0 defeat to Australia. “At this stage of the competition, we have four strong teams and whoever we play, it will be a tough game,” said the coach. “But we have prepared well and we will do our best to win.” China PR coach Shang Ruiha saw his players turn on one of their best performances of the week with a 22-0 destruction of Malaysia in their final pool match. Before that, they beat Jordan 9-0. “We have come this far and I believe my players are good enough to win the semi-final and reach the final,” said Shang. Top three teams in the tournament will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship to be held in Russia from August 17 to September 3.
