KOLKATA: As the curtains come down on the AFC Youth Championship on Sunday, there is some good news for the participating teams.
The dope test samples of 48 players, taken both in Kolkata and Bangalore, have returned negative results so far. AFC Medical Committee chairman Dr Gurcharan Singh informed that 24 samples each were taken at both the venues. “There has been no positive result so far and it shows the teams’ commitment to the spirit of fairplay,” he said. Japan is to meet DPR Korea on Sunday in the Final of a tournament for which 16 teams qualified and played in two groups of four each.
