RIYADH: Al Wahda lost to Al Ittihad 1-0 and failed to take advantage of pace-setters Al Hilal’s inactivity to close the gap atop the standings over the weekend. The keenly contested match was settled in favour of the former Asian champions by a stoppage time goal from Usama Al Mowallad. Al Ittihad improved to 32 points, three behind Al Shabab who thrashed Al Nasr 3-0 and seven behind Al Wahda. Al Hilal have a two-point cushion at the top. Abdullal Hawsawi’s 73rd minute strike saw Al Ahli winning at Al Qadsiya while Al Ettifaq drew with Al Hazm 1-1. In other games, Al Khaleej thrashed bottom outfit Al Faysaly 4-1.
