BEIJING: The AFC U-13 Football Festival (East Asia) kicked off here yesterday with hosts China and DPR Korea posting wins.

While China beat Chinese Taipei 1-0 they failed to get past Japan and Hong Kong and were held to goalless draws. DPR Korea thrashed Guam in their opening round match.

The participating teams are China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Guam, Japan, Mongolia, Macau, Hong Kong and Korea Republic.

The opening ceremony was graced by China Football Association (CFA) General Secretary Xie Yalong and CFA Vice-President Xue Li.
