DOHA: Iraq’s Al Zawra’a drubbed Al Rayyan of Qatar 3-1 in their inconsequential final Group A encounter of the AFC Champions League here at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Wednesday. The match was as good as over for the Qatari club by the 34th minute when Haidar Sabah added to goals from Selman Mesbeh (13) and Abdulsalam Abboud (26). Saoud Khames pulled one back with 15 minutes left on the clock but Al Rayyan had left themselves with too steep a mountain to climb. With Al Wahda of UAE qualifying from this group with 13 points in their kitty, Al Zawra’a finished in second position, two points off the pace. Kuwait’s Al Arabi came in third on seven points, followed by Al Rayyan with two points. Comprehensive match report on www.afcchampionsleague.com
