CHONGQING: DPR Korea captain Ra Un Sim and their prolific striker Cha Hu Nam are in contention for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship along with Japan’s Asano Nagasato. All the players have made tremendous contributions in their respective teams’ progress to Tuesday’s final. Ra Un Sim spearheaded the world champions’ attack and so far their frontline has succeeded to deliver in every match of the tournament, which included Cha Hu Nam who was on target in all their three group games. A hardworking Nagasato, however, has a high physical ability and is also strong in the air. Members of AFC’s Technical Study Group (TSG) will decide the winner after the final on Tuesday. Korea Republic’s ace striker Jung Hae In is leading the top goalscorers chart with four goals. Jung Hae In scored two of her four goals against Chinese Taipei. Her teammate Yoo Younga and DPR Korea’s Ra Un Sim and Cha Hu Nam have scored three goals each so far and could lay claim to the award if they surpass Jung’s tally of four goals while the latter also has a chance to increase the total against hosts China in the third-place playoff. Defending champions China lead the Fair Play Award standings with an average of 32.28 points, followed by Japan on 32 points. Korea Republic are third with 30.58 points.
