DOHA: Al Gharafa carried out a 5-0 demolition of Qatar Sports Club in the sixth round of the Qatar League on Friday to pull away from the chasing pack.

Brazilian import Klemerson fired a hat-trick in the big win which took Al Gharafa to their sixth straight win.

Defending champions Al Sadd are trailing the leaders by five points after two Felipe George goals helped them down Umm Salal 2-0.

Al Shamal are eight points off the pace after a goalless draw with Al Arabi while Al Wakrah hung on for a narrow 2-1 win over Al Rayyan. Ali Qassim and Adil Ramzi scored for Al Wakrah before the first 30 minutes of the game but Tiago pulled one back for Al Rayyan five minutes before the end, ensuring a tense finish.

In another match, Al Sailiya beat Al Khor 2-1.
