Tokyo: A Japan Football Association Nadeshiko Friends Square, a grassroots event for girls, was held at FC Tokyo’s training grounds.
The event was held under three age categories and was composed of activities such as stretching, dribbling, shooting and more.
After the various sessions, the event concluded with the girls and coaches having 3v3 mini matches where it was impressive to watch the young participants passionately chasing the ball to score goals.
“We have held this JFA Nadeshiko Friends Square twice a month in Kamisyakujii and FC Tokyo Park Fuchu,” said Kenta Kujirai, a grassroots co-ordinator. “Each time we have three categories and for the elementary school categories, there are nearly 20 participants. They always enjoy this event.
“FC Tokyo runs football schools for women of any age in Kamisyakujii and Otsuka Jumonji. We have also increased opportunities for adults to take futsal classes in FC Tokyo Park Fuchu.
“In the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nadeshiko Japan finished in second place. It was a good result and we want to include more people to boost women’s football. It is our pleasure if we could contribute to increasing the number of football players in Japan.”
