Hong Kong: Liverpool and Leicester City will square off in the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy 2017 final after advancing in contrasting fashion at the Hong Kong Stadium on Wednesday.
Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-0 but Leicester City needed penalties, edging West Bromwich Albion 7-6 in the shoot-out after the match ended 1-1.
Dominic Solanke scored for Liverpool in the 61st minute and Divock Origi netted the second in the 79th to send the fans into ecstasy.
“Both teams displayed great performances. Crystal Palace put up a strong offence in the first-half, but we defended well," said Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp.
“In the second-half we kept on going, and we scored. In different moments, we should have been more concentrated. We have a few days to train for the final on Saturday. We are already looking towards it, especially with the fans' support. Nice stadium, and fantastic atmosphere."
Crystal Palace Manager Frank de Boer was happy with his team's discipline.
"“We were very disciplined today, and that was our main goal. We aimed to play as a team, and I saw that. There are some details to work on, but we played against a very good opponent.
“From my point of view, it was a good performance. Everyone played the role we want them to play, and I am very satisfied," said de Boer.
