Tokyo: World Cup winner Lukas Podolski has confirmed that he will leave Galatsaray to join Japanese side Vissel Kobe at the end of the season in Europe.
The 31-year-old forward made the announcement via his official Instagram account on Wednesday.
"I can confirm that at the end of this season I will join Vissel Kobe from the J.League in Japan,” he said.
“It's not a decision against Galatasaray, it's a decision I made for a new challenge, and I will explain more when the time is right."
Podolski played 129 times for Germany, scoring 48 goals and winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup before retiring in the wake of Euro 2016.
At club level, the Poland-born hitman, who started his career at Cologne, won two Bundesliga titles with German giants Bayern Munich as well as the 2014 FA Cup whilst starring for Arsenal.
Vissel Kobe opened their latest J.League campaign last weekend with a 1-0 away win at Shimizu S-Pulse.
