Dushanbe: A Match Day Organisation Workshop has been held recently in Tajikistan attended by Local General Coordinators, Match Commissioners and clubs participating in the National Football League.
The workshop, organised under the AFC League Development Programme, aimed to provide knowledge on professional match organisation and share best practices with current and potential Match Commissioners.
Also, a visit by the workshop presenter from AFC planned to create a pool of at least 10 Match Commissioners and a Venue Director who meet AFC standards by March 2017.
“The match day organisation workshop will help the Local General Coordinators, Match Commissioners and clubs understand the best practices for match day organisation that are currently prevailing at the continental level,” said Tajikistan Football Federation’s League Director Alisher Urunov.
“It is very useful for Tajikistan to know how to organise matches at a high level, because our ultimate aim is to participate in the continent's top club competition, the AFC Champions League, in five years’ time.
“Also, we want to increase the pool of knowledgeable and experienced Match Commissioners at the local level. This workshop will help them gain knowledge on the various issues that are faced by them during match days.
“The topics covered in the workshop are very relevant and practical to our Match Commissioners. Hopefully, over a period of years, AFC can have more Match Commissioners from Tajikistan.”
AFC Club Competitions Manager Pavel Luzanov delivered the workshop through a series of theory and practical sessions.
During the theoretical programme, Luzanov gave a review of the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup competitions, touched on match programmes and official countdown as well as discussed a case study and best practices in organising matches, among others, while the practical sessions were conducted at the Central Stadium during a Premier League match between FC Khair and FC Istiklol.
The second day of the programme covered matters such as stadium security, media operations, marketing operations and more, during which several issues were identified for rectification.
As part of the future plan following the conclusion of the workshop and visit, the Tajikistan Football Federation will take several action steps including appointing independent Match Commissioners, a move away from the current local practice of appointing inspectors for the league who act as both Match Commissioners and Referee Assessors.
