Kuala Lumpur: Singapore’s Lions XII clinched their inaugural Malaysia FA Cup title after upsetting Kelantan 3-1 at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Super substitute Sahil Suhaimi scored a double including a second half stoppage time goal, while fellow SEA Games-bound teammate Faris Ramli registered the Lions’ first goal against two-time winners Kelantan.

The Malaysian side dominated for large parts of the match but could not stop Ramli who drew first blood just six minutes into the game before Kelantan equalised on 62 minutes through a Wan Zack Haikal strike.

Suhaimi regained the lead for Fandi Ahmad’s side when he scored his first goal on 82 minutes following a surging run and powerful shot. He duly notched a second courtesy of an injury time penalty to comprehensively deny the 2012 domestic treble winners their third FA Cup title.
