Kuala Lumpur: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated Hanoi FC on creating history by becoming the first Vietnamese side to clinch the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal crown after they defeated local rivals Becamex Binh Duong 2-0 on aggregate on Wednesday in an all-Vietnamese ASEAN Zonal Final.
The AFC President said: “On behalf of the AFC football family, I would like to congratulate Hanoi FC for being the first side from Vietnam to capture the ASEAN Zone prize.
“Congratulations also to 4.25 SC from DPR Korea on becoming East Zone champions for the third consecutive time, Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr FC for clinching their second Central Zone crown and Abahani Limited Dhaka from Bangladesh for emerging as the South Zone Champions for the first time."

Hanoi: Vietnam’s Hanoi FC were crowned 2019 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal Champions on Wednesday after a 1-0 home win over domestic rivals Becamex Binh Duong in the second leg of their regional final.
Leading 1-0 from last week’s first leg, Pape Omar Faye’s second-half strike – his eighth goal of the competition – ultimately sealed a 2-0 aggregate success for Hanoi, one which earns them a spot in the Inter-Zone Semi-finals where they will now face Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr FC.

Hanoi: Pape Omar Faye has admitted that he has the 2019 AFC Cup top scorer award in his sights as Hanoi FC prepare to take on domestic rivals Becamex Binh Duong in the second leg of the ASEAN Zonal Final on Wednesday.
With seven goals on the Continent so far, Senegalese forward Faye has scored more than any other player left in the tournament and he will have a chance to add to his tally when Binh Duong visit Hang Day Stadium looking to overhaul a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
Faye remains three goals behind the competition’s top scorer Bienvenido Maranon of Ceres Negros, but the Spaniard’s side exited the 2019 AFC Cup after Faye scored home and away in a 3-2 aggregate win in the ASEAN Zonal semi-finals.

Ashgabat: Reigning league champions Altyn Asyr FC have added another trophy to their growing collection, overcoming city rivals Köpetdag Ashgabat 2-0 to win the Turkmenistan Super Cup on Saturday.
The trophy, a play-off bringing together the country’s defending league and cup champions from the previous season, has now been won five successive times by Altyn Asyr, who are chasing a sixth successive Yokary Liga title this season.

Kuala Lumpur: The draw for the 2019 AFC Cup Inter-Zone Semi-Finals and Zonal Finals concluded in the Malaysian capital on Tuesday.
The ASEAN Zonal Final will see Becamex Binh Duong hosting Hanoi FC in the first leg at the Binh Duong Stadium on July 31. The return leg of the all-Vietnam ASEAN Zonal Final will be played on August 7.
The ASEAN Zonal winners will face 2018 runners-up Altyn Asyr in the Inter-Zone Semi-final on August 20, with the return leg on August 27.
