The former goalkeeper coach at J-League 2 side Thespakusatsu Gunma and the Chinese Taipei national women’s team said that though the 20 young goalkeepers who attended the recent National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam’s (NFABD) Open Goalkeeper Training Session at the NFABD Artificial Turf Field were on the right track, they can improve faster if they train better. “Some of them do not have their positioning and timing right. They can improve better if they have more match-level training sessions,” he said after the session. “What I mean by “match-level training sessions” is 11 v 11 training sessions, where the goalkeepers play in “match scenarios” with the rest of the team and not just train by themselves,” he added.
