Jordan defeat Syria to emerge runners-up
Zarqa: Jordan finished second in the 2019 West Asian Football Federation U-15 Boys Championship after defeating Syria 2-1 in their final second round pool match on Thursday.
Saudi Arabia had sealed the title on Tuesday after defeating hosts Jordan 3-1, having beaten Syria 3-0 on Sunday.

Abdelqader Alalem (pictured below, centre), who scored a brace, struck the winner in the 70th minute for Jordan after his opening goal in the ninth minute had been cancelled out by teammate Ja'far Samarah, who put the ball into his own net in the 38th minute.
The tournament format saw the three group winners from the first round of pool matches advancing to a second round robin competition to decide the champions.
Iraq, meanwhile, finished fourth after Bahrain and Oman settled for a 1-1 draw.
Iraq finished on four points, having defeated Bahrain 1-0 and playing to a 0-0 draw with Oman.
With Kuwait having sealed seventh place, Lebanon defeated Palestine 2-1 to finish eighth.
Abdallah Shreiteh gave Palestine the lead in the 23rd minute but Lebanon upped their tempo in the second half and were rewarded through strikes from Rayan Nasserddine (54th) and Obeida Al Awad (79th).
The tournament also served as a warm-up for the teams ahead of the 2020 AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers in September.
