Referee instructors boost knowledge at workshop
Kuala Lumpur: 23 referee instructors further enhanced their knowledge and expertise, following the conclusion of the AFC Certified Referee Instructors Workshop in the Malaysian capital on Friday.
The three-day workshop conducted by AFC experts and the British Council was a follow up from an evaluation from last February that saw the successful instructors continuing the programme, which is the first of its kind in the world wide refereeing community.
The programme emphasises quality over quantity and provides educators with the highest possible professional work environment.

Given the rapid technological advancement, it is vital for modern instructors to complement their technical knowledge with the latest resources for teaching, and the AFC Referees Department introduced the AFC Refereeing 360 during the workshop.
The online platform allows the users to gain access and browse an extensive library of match footage and to produce their own teaching materials in a swift and simple manner.
The participants were also given advice on enhancing their computing skills, which includes PowerPoint and Excel, as well as a refresher on the latest amendments to the Laws of the Game, while the British Council proposed exercises for the development of the English Language and recommended online resources for self-preparation.
On the closing day, the instructors learnt more about the planning and organisation of team building and motivational activities.
