Kuala Lumpur: Aspiring elite referees are set for yet another step up as the participants of the AFC Referee Academy Introductory batch 2017 begins Module III at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.
Divided into two small-sized groups, 20 participants in Group 1 will participate in the programme on July 20 to 24, while July 26 to 30 will see 18 participants in Group 2.
Module III will continue to build on the existing knowledge of the referees, focusing on their technical, physical and psychological preparation based on the guidance of world-renowned educators.
From the technical aspect, the participants will be updated with the latest amendments to the Laws of the Game, effective from June 1, 2018. Having covered a total of eight laws in the previous modules, Law 1, 2 and 4 will now be introduced.
The Academy curriculum also places priority on maintaining and improving the referees’ fitness level. In Module III, the participants will benefit from the fitness educators’ first-hand insights, sharing on match fitness preparation, travel challenges and strategies for referees, as well as advice on how to cope with officiating in extreme weather conditions.
