Canberra: Qatar finalised their AFC Asian Cup preparations with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Team Wellington in Canberra on Monday.
Played in wet and windy conditions, the 2014 Gulf Cup of Nations champions took a 2-0 lead before half-time thanks to goals from Ibrahim Majid and Meshal Abdullah.
Team Wellington, who play in New Zealand's top-flight, reduced the deficit after the break through prolific star Michael Gwyther, before the AFC Asian Cup contenders hit back when Boualem Khoukhi finished some excellent approach play with a polished volley to confirm his side's 3-1 victory.
Qatar get their Asian Cup Group C campaign underway when they take on the UAE in Canberra on January 11.
They will then head to Sydney where they face Iran on January 15 and Bahrain on January 19.
