Hanoi: DPR Korea picked up their first win after breezing past Hong Kong 5-1 in the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 Group J qualifying tie on Monday.
First half goals from Yun Min, Kim Pom Hyok and a Kim Hwi Hwang brace gave DPR Korea enough momentum for the win as they lie second in the group behind Australia who also have three points.
Wednesday's clash between the two will decide the group winners, which comes with an automatic slot in the Finals in Indonesia.
Ri Chol's side went ahead in the first minute through midfielder Yun Min who scored from the penalty spot.
Hong Kong's Chu Wai Kwan leveled the score eight minutes later, also from the penalty spot.
Hwi Hwang, however, restored DPR Korea's lead in the 20th minute before adding a second 15 minutes later.
Kim Pom Hyok scored the fourth five minutes from the break and Paek Chung Song added DPR Korea's fifth in the 60th minute to set up a winner-takes-all clash with Australia.
