Kuala Lumpur: The performance of Asian national women's teams is set to be improved further when FIFA and AFC organise the FIFA-AFC Women’s Football Conference 2011 on 6-8 December 2011 in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
The Conference aims to provide examples of successful women’s football programmes from some of the world’s leading countries and the Asian approach along with the philosophies and development methods from other countries that has led them to a winning performance at women’s international football tournaments in recent years.
AFC Technical Director Jim Selby has explained the Conference’s goals and programme contents:
“The Conference offers National Coaches, Technical Directors of Women’s Football Teams and Talented Player Programme Coaches an insight into the development, playing trends and preparation methods used to produce international football players with models from different countries throughout the world and Asia.
“The programme provides presentations from technical experts on women’s football programmes and pathways, talent identification, national team preparation, FIFA World Cups, AFC women’s tournaments and technical analysis.”
Asia's hosting of the Conference is timely as Japan has made a record for the continent by becoming the first Asian national team to win a FIFA Women's World Cup when they beat two-time world champions USA in the 2011 Women's World Cup Germany last summer.
