AFC Medical Centre of Excellence network expanded by AFC Medical Committee

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment to ensure the optimum level of medical care for Asian players was further emphasised today after the AFC Medical Committee approved the recognition of two new healthcare providers as part of the prestigious AFC Medical Centre of Excellence network at its second meeting held virtually.

The Japan Football Association Clinic and the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center - Vinmec Times City International Hospital in Vietnam were inducted into the world-class pool, expanding the total number of distinguished centres to 12 across the Continent.

Australia and Uzbekistan recommended as hosts for 2026 and 2029 editions of AFC Women’s Asian Cup™

Tashkent: Football Australia and the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) have been recommended as the Host Associations of the 2026 and 2029 editions of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ respectively by the AFC Women’s Football Committee today at its second meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. While certain formalities of the bidding process are in the midst of being finalised, the Committee has mandated the AFC Administration to confirm the award of the Hosting Rights once all requirements are met.

Held on the eve of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 Final between DPR Korea and Japan, Chairperson Ms. Kanya Keomany commenced proceedings by congratulating the two finalists on their commendable campaigns whilst also applauding the UFA for their exceptional organisational capabilities over the 14-day tournament.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) further strengthened its commitment to upholding the highest standards of good governance with the appointment of the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and members of the AFC Reform Taskforce for the 2023 to 2027 term.

AFC Vice President Mr. Hachem Haider has been appointed as the Chairperson of the AFC Reform Taskforce with ASEAN Football Federation President Maj. Gen. Khiev Sameth taking up the position of Deputy Chairperson.

AFC Executive Committee (remaining term 2023-2027): Candidates for election announced

Kuala Lumpur: In accordance with Article 32.1 of the AFC Statutes (Edition November 2023), the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) were notified on November 30, 2023, that the election of members for the AFC Executive Committee (remaining term 2023-2027) would be held at the 34th AFC Congress in Bangkok, Thailand in May 2024.

The MAs had to submit the nomination of their candidates for election to the AFC Executive Committee, as per the requirements set out in the AFC Statutes (Edition November 2023) and the AFC Electoral Code (Edition 2023) for the following positions:
 
• One AFC Female Executive Committee Member (Central Zone); and
• One AFC Executive Committee Member (East Zone).

Doha: The Organising Committee of AFC Asian Cup (OCAC) Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. has today hailed the readiness of the world-class venues ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ opener between defending champions Qatar and Lebanon at the Lusail Stadium on Friday. 

Speaking at an onsite inspection visit at the spectacular 88,000-capacity Lusail Stadium, which will also set the stage for the Final on 10 February, OCAC Chairperson Mariano V. Araneta Jr. said: “Few venues in world football are as iconic as the Lusail Stadium and I am confident that the players, teams and fans will witness an exceptional celebration that will set the tone for the entire duration of the competition.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Competitions Committee for the 2023 to 2027 term met today and discussed several strategic matters with the aim of further enhancing the AFC competitions at its second meeting held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Led by Chairperson Dr. Tran Quoc Tuan, the Committee gave careful consideration on the future of the AFC Solidarity Cup, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic with the next edition originally scheduled for 2024.

Led by Chairperson Yasser H. Almisehal, the Committee received a comprehensive update on the AFC Enhance Programme Regulations and approved the applications from the Qatar Football Association, the Lebanese Football Association, The Football Association of Thailand, Tajikistan Football Federation, Lao Football Federation, The Football Association of Hong Kong, China Limited as well as the AFC Enhance Programme – Extra-Time proposal from The Kyrgyz Football Union.
