ASEAN Wrap: Wanderers derail Sydney; Buriram unshaken

Kuala Lumpur: It was a compelling week across ASEAN as Western Sydney Wanderers halted Sydney FC’s early-season charge in Australia, while Buriram United reinforced their dominance in Thailand with another assured display at the top of the table.

In the Philippines, One Taguig continued to operate at a different level, cruising to another emphatic victory to remain firmly in control of the title race.

Borneo FC finally saw their perfect run come to an end in Indonesia, KL City strengthened their credentials as Malaysia’s closest challengers and Shan United maintained their pursuit of Yangon with another convincing win in Myanmar.

Qualifiers - Group F: Mongolia 2-6 Turkmenistan; Thailand 3-0 Kuwait

Chonburi: Thailand secured the Qualifiers Group F top spot after beating Kuwait 3-0 to seal their place at the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ on Sunday.

Thailand, Turkmenistan and Kuwait all finished on nine points but the Southeast Asian side advanced to the Finals on superior head-to-head goal difference.

Qualifiers - Group F: Kuwait 5-0 Maldives; Turkmenistan 3-2 Thailand

Chonburi: Kuwait placed themselves in the driver’s seat in Group F of the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Qualifiers after cruising 5-0 past Maldives on Friday.

The win moved Kuwait to nine points, with their cause aided by Turkmenistan defeating Thailand  3-2 in Friday’s other tie. Kuwait lead by three points and only need to avoid defeat against Thailand on Sunday to confirm their ticket to the Finals.

Pasig: Thailand’s FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025 campaign came to an end following a 4-1 defeat to Colombia in their Group B clash on Friday.

The win moved the South American side three points above Thailand - who finished with a single win - in the standings. Spain had sealed their quarter-final berth earlier.

Ratchaburi: Worrawoot Srimaka was pleased to see Ratchaburi FC produce a performance that underlined their indomitable spirit after late goals secured the Thai side a 2-0 win against Nam Dinh FC in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 Group F tie on Thursday.

Sidcley and Ikhsan Fandi nabbed stoppage time goals to put Ratchaburi three points ahead of their Vietnamese rivals with Worrawoot’s side only needing to avoid defeat in their final fixture against Japan’s Gamba Osaka to go through to the Round of 16.

Ratchaburi: Stoppage time goals from Sidcley and Ikhsan Fandi earned hosts Ratchaburi a last-gasp 2-0 win over Nam Dinh in Group F of the AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 that keeps their side’s hopes of a place in the knockout rounds alive.

Sidcley netted from close range to put Worrawoot Srimaka’s side ahead in the second minute of additional time and Ikshan doubled the advantage three minutes later to claim a win that moves Ratchaburi up to second in the standings, three points clear of Nam Dinh with one round remaining.

Ratchaburi will face already-qualified Gamba Osaka from Japan on December 11 needing to avoid defeat to progress while Nam Dinh will meet Hong Kong Premier League side Eastern needing a win to have any chance of qualifying.

Pohang: FC Pohang Steelers confirmed their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26 knockout stage ticket after defeating BG Pathum United 2-0 in their Group H tie on Thursday.

The win moved the Korea Republic side to 10 points, assuring them a top-two finish alongside Singapore Tampines Rovers FC irrespective of what happens in the remaining matches. Pathum United stayed rooted on six points, which meant the end of their hopes.

Bangkok and Persib are tied on 10 points, with Sailors three behind with just one matchday remaining.

Chonburi: Kuwait secured their second win in Group F after defeating Mongolia 5-0 in their AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Thailand matched Kuwait on six points after running away with a 7-1 win against Maldives.

Pathum Thani: Selangor left it late to secure a 1-1 draw against Bangkok United in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2025/26  tie on Wednesday.

The results leaves Bangkok United level on 10 points with Indonesia’s Persib Bandung, who were stunned 3-2 by Lion City Sailors of Singapore - who moved up to seven points with Selangor staying rooted at the bottom.

Ulsan: Ulsan HD played out a 0-0 draw with Buriram United at Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium on Wednesday as both clubs consolidated their positions in the top eight places in the standings in the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2025/26.

Neither side was able to find a breakthrough in a tense encounter in Korea Republic with Buriram goalkeeper Neil Etheridge making a late fingertip save from Heo Yool to secure a point for Mark Jackson’s Thai League 1 side.

The draw takes Ulsan onto eight points from their first five matches in the East Zone League Stage and level on points with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, FC Seoul and Machida Zelvia with Buriram United a further point adrift.
