Hodak hails Persib’s grit; Bangkok’s Totchtawan blames fatigue for defeat

Bandung: Head coach Bojan Hodak was all smiles after Persib Bandung secured their place in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ knockout stage with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bangkok United at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Wednesday.

The victory - sealed by Ramon Tanque’s strike - saw Persib finish on 13 points to claim top spot in Group G with Bangkok United - three points adrift - also advancing.

Group G: Selangor FC (MAS) 0-1 Lion City Sailors FC (SGP)

Petaling Jaya: Lion City Sailors claimed a 1-0 win over Malaysia Super League outfit Selangor at MBPJ Stadium on Wednesday but the victory in Group G was not enough to prevent last season’s runners-up from crashing out of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™.

Tsye Ndenge’s 50th minute strike earned Lion City the points they needed to keep their hopes of a place in the knockout rounds alive but Persib Bandung’s 1-0 win over Bangkok United saw the Singaporeans eliminated due to an inferior head-to-head record.
 
As a result, Lion City finish third in Group G behind table-toppers Persib and second-placed Bangkok United on 10 points with Selangor already eliminated with a solitary point from their six matches.

Bandung: Persib Bandung moved into the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™  knockout stage after a 1-0 win over Bangkok United in their final Group G tie at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Wednesday. 

Ramon Tanque’s strike saw the Indonesian side finishing with 13 points while Bangkok United - three adrift - qualified in second place in an encounter that featured some exceptional goalkeeping from the visitors’ Patiwat Khammai.

Hiroshima: Hayato Araki was pleased to play his part to give outgoing head coach Michael Skibbe a winning farewell after the defender scored the solitary goal in Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s 1-0 win against Shanghai Shenhua FC in their AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26™ match on Tuesday.

Araki rose highest in the 78th minute to thump home a corner from Naoto Araki to give Sanfrecce the third win of their first continental top tier campaign since 2019.
