Bangkok’s Totchtawan, Al Ghassani jubilant; Gamba’s Wissing vows improvement

Suita: Head coach Totchtawan Sripan and forward Muhsen Al Ghassani shared the joy after Bangkok United surprised Gamba Osaka to secure a 1-0 lead in their AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ semi-final tie on Wednesday.

Al Ghassani’s 15th minute penalty paved the way for a vital victory that will give the Thailand side an advantage to protect in the return leg next week with Sripan expressing his delight at the way his players executed the gameplan.

Suita: Bangkok United will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ semi-final against Gamba Osaka next week after Totchtawan Sripan’s side defeated the 10-man J1 League outfit at Suita City Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Muhsen Al Ghassani’s 15th minute penalty separates the sides at the halfway point in the tie with Gamba’s efforts to pull level hampered by a 74th minute red card for defender and captain Shinnosuke Nakatani.

The teams will meet again in Rajamangala Stadium next Wednesday with Bangkok United attempting to become the first Thai club to reach the final of the competition.

Singapore: Bangkok United squeezed into the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ on Thursday as a 2-2 draw with Tampines Rovers at Jalan Besar Stadium earned the Thai League 1 outfit a 4-3 aggregate quarter-final win.

Teerasil Danga’s 15th minute strike gave Bangkok United the perfect start as they built on their 2-1 victory from the first leg before Trent Buhagiar levelled in the 39th minute, only for Ilias Alhaft to restore his side’s advantage with three minutes left in the half.

That left Tampines Rovers needing to score two unanswered goals in the second half to take the tie to extra time and, although Koya Kazama levelled on the night with 19 minutes remaining, Bangkok United held on to progress.

Ratchaburi: Welton Felipe’s goal in the ninth minute of extra time sent Gamba Osaka into the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26™ East Zone semi-finals after they beat Ratchaburi FC 2-1 in the return leg of their last eight tie at the Ratchaburi Stadium on Wednesday.

A brilliant strike from Gamba’s Genta Miura was offset by an opportunistic goal by Gleyson before Felipe struck the winner for the Japanese side, who had dominated the tie but couldn’t finish the job in regulation time as they advanced 3-2 on aggregate.
