East Asia Wrap: Chengdu extend lead; Kashima, Vissel stay top; Seoul edge Jeonbuk

Tokyo: Chengdu Rongcheng FC strengthened their position at the top of the Chinese Super League, while defending champions Shanghai Port FC continued to struggle.

In Japan, Kashima Antlers and Vissel Kobe maintained their leads in Group A and B respectively, while FC Seoul moved clear at the top in Korea Republic after edging Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Alexandersson proud as India sign off in style

Pathum Thani: Head coach Joakim Alexandersson came away pleased with the way India concluded their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ Group C campaign on Wednesday.

The South Asian side outplayed Chinese Taipei 3-1 to claim their first win, taking a two-goal lead in the first half through Bhumika Khumukcham and Sibani Devi before the latter closed the match by converting a penalty in the 87th minute.

The win, however, was not enough to seal a spot in the quarter-finals, with Vietnam and Uzbekistan pipping India to a place in the next round.

Thammasat:  Japan eased to a 2-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ Group C tie at the Thammasat Stadium on Sunday.

The six-time champions sealed their ticket to the knockout stage with the victory and will meet Australia to decide the top spot on Wednesday. Chinese Taipei, despite suffering two consecutive defeats, still have a chance of progressing but will have to beat India in their concluding tie.
