Kuala Lumpur: The cast for the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Group Stage will be finalised with the conclusion of the Preliminary Stage on Sunday.

Only the six group winners will advance to join defending champions Naegohyang Women’s FC of DPR Korea, Melbourne City FC (AUS), Hwacheon KSPO WFC (KOR), INAC Kobe Leonessa (JPN), Beijing Jingtan Football Club (CHN) and Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC (VIE) in the Group Stage.

Itakura returns to Gladbach; Al Shabab nab Partey

Kuala Lumpur: Japan international Ko Itakura completed a return to the German Bundesliga after re-signing for Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 29-year-old played in the Dutch Eredivisie with Ajax last season and captained Japan to the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Kuala Lumpur: The road to the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027™ will begin with the Qualifiers Draw on August 27 (Thursday) at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Set to take place at 3pm, the ceremony will split the 35 participating teams into seven groups of five to contest a single round-robin centralised league for the qualifying rounds that run from November 8 to 20, 2026.

Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan learn Brazil 2027 playoff path

Kuala Lumpur: Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan have discovered their paths in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 Playoff Tournament, with the two sides aiming to further increase Asia’s representation at the global showpiece.

The preliminary phase draw, conducted in Zurich on Thursday, placed the AFC representatives among six teams battling for two places in the final phase of the Inter-Confederation Playoffs.

Kuala Lumpur: Japan’s Takatora Einaga secured a move to Europe after completing a permanent transfer to Belgian side K. Beerschot V.A.

Einaga has signed a two-year contract at the Kiel, with an option for an additional season.

Elsewhere, Al Hilal SFC defender Joao Cancelo returned to Barcelona and Ryo Nakamura joined Thespa Gunma on loan.

Qarshi: It’s advantage to PFC Nasaf after they claimed their second win in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Preliminary Stage with a 3-0 victory against Royal Thimphu College FC on Thursday.

The win means that Nasaf will head into their final Group C match on Sunday against UAE’s Banaat FC holding a two-point lead and only needing to avoid defeat to progress to the group stage.

Hisor: Etihad Club are a win away from a spot in the group stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ after outplaying Tajikistan’s FC CSKA Dushanbe 5-1 on Thursday. 

The Jordanian side will have to overcome Bam Khatoon of Islamic Republic of Iran in their final Group E Preliminary Stage match on Sunday to qualify while twice-defeated Dushanbe will play Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr Club for pride.

Bishkek: Hong Kong, China’s TSL FC inched closer towards the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27™ Group Stage after cruising 4-0 past FC Ilbirs of Kyrgyz Republic on Thursday.

TSL will face Kaya FC-Iloilo of the Philippines on Sunday for the Group B top spot with Ilbirs taking on Phnom Penh Crown FC of Cambodia in a consolation tie.
