#AFCU20 China 2027 Qualifiers: MD3 Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers conclude on Sunday, promising high-octane action.

The Qualifiers offer 15 berths at next year’s Finals and sees the maiden implementation of a two-tiered format.

The Qualification Phase divides 31 teams across eight groups, with all group winners and the seven best second-placed teams advancing to join hosts China PR at the 43rd edition of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™. Meanwhile, the six lowest-ranked fourth-placed teams will be relegated to the Development Phase of the next Qualifiers.

Concurrently, the Development Phase features 11 teams that are split into three groups, with the first and second-placed teams of each group to be promoted to the Qualification Phase of the next Qualifiers.

Thimphu: Chinese Taipei clinched top spot in Group J after defeating Singapore 2-0 in the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Development Phase on Sunday.

Second half strikes from Sung Chi-Chan maintained Chinese Taipei’s perfect record with Singapore claiming second place.

Bhutan registered their first win after sailing 7-0 past Macau to finish third in the standings.

Phnom Penh: Japan put on another masterful display to beat Yemen 4-0 in Group G of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Sunday and book their place in next year’s Finals.

The 2016 champions closed their campaign with a maximum nine points, netting 16 goals and conceding none while in the later match, Kuwait breezed past Cambodia 5-0 to chalk up their first three points and finish in second ahead of Yemen and the Southeast Asian side on goal difference.

Qualifiers - Group C: DPR Korea 4-0 Palestine; IR Iran 3-1 Vietnam

Viet Tri: Three goals in six second half minutes ensured DPR Korea sealed a 4-0 win over Palestine on Sunday as O Thae Song’s side finished top of Group C of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers with a perfect record while the Islamic Republic of Iran took second after handing Vietnam a 3-1 defeat.

Goals from Kim Yu Jin, An Jin Sok and Pak Kwang Song in the 50th, 54th and 56th minutes put their team in control with Ko Myong Ryong completing the scoring in the final minute as DPR Korea secured their third win in a row.

DPR Korea finished with a maximum nine points while the Iranians slotted into second three points behind. Palestine took third with Vietnam rooted to the bottom without a point.

Vientiane: Indonesia earned a hard-fought 2-0 win against defending champions Australia to book their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ spot on Sunday.

The win put Indonesia on seven points in Group H to seal automatic qualification, achieving their third consecutive appearance in the Finals.

Malaysia finished second in the group on five points after defeating Laos 2-1 but will have to wait for the remaining groups to know their fate.

Tashkent: India handed Bangladesh their third straight defeat with a 3-0 win in their concluding Group B fixture of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Sunday. 

Mahesh Gawali’s side earned their second win to close with six points and are poised to make their first appearance in the Finals since 2006 ahead of Uzbekistan’s later tie with Syria.

Yangon: Myanmar signed off their AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers Group K Development Phase campaign with a 6-0 win against Maldives on Sunday.

Both teams had already secured promotion to the Qualification Phase of the next edition with the victory seeing the hosts finishing three points ahead of their opponents.

Chonburi: Yannick Muller scored twice and Butti Khamis Al Jneibi hit an 84th minute winner as the United Arab Emirates came back from two goals down to hand Turkmenistan a 3-2 defeat in Group F of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers on Sunday.

Muller netted in the 62nd and 81st minutes to level the tie after Yakupmuhammet Govshudov and Medetgeldi Charryev had given Turkmenistan a two-goal lead and Al Jneibi scored his side’s third six minutes from time.

The win was the UAE’s first in the competition and the three points were enough to keep their hopes of a place in next year’s Finals alive ahead of Thailand’s meeting with Iraq later in the day.

Ulaanbaatar: Mongolia sealed top spot in Group I of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027™ Qualifiers as a 3-0 win over Guam on Sunday saw Marco Ragini’s side notch up a second consecutive victory at the MFF Stadium in Ulaanbaatar.

Goals from Erdenebaatar Nyamdorj, Jason Mendjargal and Khabul Baatar secured the points for the home side, who had opened their campaign with a 7-0 win over the Northern Mariana Islands.

Kuala Lumpur: The stage will be set for the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ on September 10 (Thursday), 2026 when the Final Draw takes places at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

To take place at 3pm, the ceremony will divide the 12-strong cast into three groups of four for the 12th edition of the competition, which is scheduled to run from November 18 to 28, 2026.
