Preview - Group A: MD2

Doha: Early pacesetters Palestine and Syria will be looking to maintain their momentum on Matchday 2 of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 on Thursday.

Both earned hard-fought 1-0 wins on Monday to put them in a good position to advance to quarter-finals while Tunisia and Qatar will have to bounce back to pull themselves back into the race.

Al Khor: Palestine snatched a goal deep into stoppage time to defeat Qatar 1-0 in their FIFA Arab Cup 2025 Group A opener on Monday.

Sultan Al Brake’s own goal secured victory for Palestine, who will next play Tunisia - who lost 1-0 to Syria earlier on Monday. Hosts Qatar meet Syria, with both matches to be played on Thursday.

Ahmedabad: India qualified for the  AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Islamic Republic of Iran in their final Qualifiers Group D tie on Sunday.

The hosts finished level on seven points with Iran but advanced on the head-to-head ratio as they booked a fourth consecutive appearance at the Finals. 

Palestine ended their campaign earlier on Sunday with a 3-1 win against Chinese Taipei.

Ahmedabad: Islamic Republic of Iran came from behind to defeat Palestine 3-1 in their AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026™ Qualifiers Group D tie on Friday.

Lebanon concluded their campaign with a 2-0 win against India, their first of the campaign but their haul of six points is one behind Iran as they exited the competition.

Doha: Kuwait, Syria and Palestine advanced to the group stage of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 with victories in their respective playoff ties on Tuesday.

Kuwait and Syria defeated Mauritania and South Sudan respectively with 2-0 score lines while Palestine edged Libya 4-3 on penalties after their tie ended goalless.

Victory secured Kyrgyz Republic a 17th appearance at the Finals while Uzbekistan will hope to qualify as one of the best seven runners-up.

Bishkek: Kyrgyz Republic secured top spot in Group E and a place at the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2026 Finals on Tuesday with a 6-0 victory over Sri Lanka in Bishkek while former champions Uzbekistan took second in the standings with a 2-1 win against Palestine.

The results mean Kyrgyz Republic finish in first place on goal difference ahead of their Central Asian neighbours, who also have seven points and must wait until the completion of the group phase to learn if they will advance as one of the four best runners-up.
