Manama: Bahrain head coach Helio Sousa has named a 23-player training squad ahead of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Also scheduled during the final tune-up are two friendly matches, including one against Ukraine in Kiev, as Bahrain gear up for Group C of the Asian Qualifiers.

The bulk of the squad consists players from Bahraini Premier League champions Riffa with 13 called up, while Sousa has opted to leave out players from Hidd and Muharraq, who will be involved in the 2021 AFC Cup during the same period.
Sousa's squad will report for training on Saturday with departure to Kiev scheduled for May 20, with the match against Ukraine three days later.
The squad will return on May 24, with a friendly against Malaysia scheduled four days later.
Bahrain, who will host Group C of the Asian Qualifiers, resume their campaign against Cambodia on June 3.
Second on nine points from five matches, Bahrain are two behind leaders Iraq with Islamic Republic of Iran - who have a game in hand - third on six points. Bahrain play Iran on June 7 and conclude their campaign against Hong Kong on June 15.
Only the group winners are assured of advancing to the third round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will also book them a ticket to the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Finals.
The four best second-placed teams from the eight groups will also advance to the third round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, although that will increase to five should 2022 hosts Qatar win Group E.
