Dragan Skocic names IR Iran squad for Bosnia friendly


Tehran: Islamic Republic of Iran head coach Dragan Skocic has named a 23-man squad for friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Iran will play the European team on Thursday at the Asim Ferhatović Hase Stadium as part of their preparations for the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023, where the Central Asian side are third in Group C behind Iraq and Bahrain.

The match against Bosnia will only be Iran's second international match of the year, having defeated Uzbekistan 2-1 in October.

The Asian Qualifiers, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are scheduled to resume in early 2021.

Iran, seeking a third consecutive appearance in the FIFA World Cup Finals, still have four matches to play in the Asian Qualifiers.
