Kuala Lumpur: Guam will undergo a week-long training camp in China PR in preparation for the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Newly-appointed head coach Suh Dong-won has named a preliminary squad of 24 players for the Asian Qualifiers, with Guam set to resume their Group A campaign on May 30.

“In consultation with head coach Suh, we have made the final selection for Guam’s team to compete in the Asian Qualifiers in China,” said Guam Football Association technical director Sang Hoon-kim.
“With the final selection of players, we will make all necessary adjustments in tactical strategy during the training camp for the team’s best performance in the upcoming matches. I look forward to tracking the progress of the team in camp and during the tournament.”
The Guam-based players will depart on May 20 to join those based in the United States before travelling to China, who will host the remainder of the Group A matches.
While Guam, who play China on May 30, have no chance of advancing to the third round of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, they can still seal a spot in the third round of the Qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The East Asians - who lost their first five matches - will however have to beat China, Philippines (June 3) and group leaders Syria (June 11) if they are to stand a chance.
