Update on upcoming Asian Qualifiers in March and June
“We had already put in place a preparatory programme for the Asian Qualifiers (resuming in March) but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things didn't work out and we will prepare instead with a camp in Dubai where we will play against Jordan and India,” said Ivankovic.
"We chose to play against India because they are a strong-willed team, having played against them before and we know how strong they are.
“Jordan, on the other hand, are a good team and we were supposed to play against them in a friendly last year but due the situation, we decided to postpone."
Oman are second in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers, four points behind Qatar but with a match in hand.
“We hope that we can achieve our goal from these friendly matches as we want to improve the team and get good results,” said Ivankovic.
“We are optimistic that we can qualify to the next stage in the Qualifiers,” he added. “After the end of the local league in May, we will have a camp in Qatar in preparation for the resumption of the Qualifiers.”
