Lebanon set for Bahrain friendly


Beirut: Lebanon national team head coach Jamal Taha has called up a 23-man squad for their training camp in the UAE.

The Cedars will play Bahrain as part of their preparations for the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Lebanon are currently third in Group H of the Asian Qualifiers with eight points from five matches with ties against Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Korea Republic to come.

Europe-based midfielders Mouhammed Dhaini and Khaled Mohssen, who ply their trade in Sweden and Germany respectively, will be hoping to make their international debuts for Lebanon.

The match against Bahrain will be former Lebanon national team defender Taha’s first challenge, having replaced Romanian Liviu Ciobotariu as head coach.

Goalkeeper: Mostafa Matar, Ali Daher, Ali Al Sabeh.
Defenders: Nour Mansour, Mohamed Zein Tahan, Nassar Nassar, Robert Alexander Melki, Hussein Zein, Maher Sabra, Abdallah Aich.
Midfielders: Nader Matar, Ahmad Jalloul, Bassel Jradi, Hussein Monzer, Houssein Rizk, Mouhammed Dhaini, Khaled Mohssen, Abbas Assi.
Forwards: Hassan Maatouk, Hassan Chaito, Soony Saad, Mohamad Kdouh, Karim Darwich.
