Malaysia's Tan names preliminary squad
Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia head coach Tan Cheng Hoe has announced his preliminary list of 27 players ahead of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The Harimau Malaya were involved in the first round of the Asian Qualifiers in June, and Tan has kept 18 players from the squad that beat Timor-Leste 12-2 on aggregate.

Shahrel Fikri, who scored four goals against Timor-Leste, as well as Safawi Rasid and Akhyar Abdul Rashid - with two goals each to their name, alongside playmaker Mohamadou Sumareh will lead the Malaysian charge.
Malaysia will play a friendly match against Jordan on August 30, after which Tan will announce the final list of 23 players. The squad reports for training on Sunday.

Malaysia are in Group G, which features three other Southeast Asian teams - Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia - and the United Arab Emirates.
Tan's charges will travel to Jakarta to face Indonesia on September 5, before hosting the UAE at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil five days later.
