Milojevic satisfied, Dodd rues missed chance
Bededo: Philippines head coach Goran Milojevic praised his side's resilience after they bounced from an opening day defeat to beat Guam 4-1 in the Asian Qualifiers on Tuesday.
Philippines went into the match on the back of a 5-2 defeat to Syria on Matchday One of their Group A campaign in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
With Guam also having lost their opener 1-0 to Maldives, it was a match both sides had to win and at the end of 90 minutes, it was the Philippines who bagged the three points.

"It was a very difficult match. We didn't expect it to be so difficult," said Philippines head coach Milojevic.
Philippines looked to be cruising to the three points after Angel Guirado and Patrick Reichelt gave them a 2-0 lead going into the half-time break.
Guam pressed hard when the match resumed and Marcus Lopez's 65th minute penalty rejuvenated the East Asians but skipper Stephan Schrock's 70th minute strike calmed the Philippines' nerves and John Patrick Strauss confirmed the win in the 80th minute.

"Our performance dropped in the second half and this allowed Guam to come back. I am glad we were able to hold on for the win," added Milojevic.
The margin of victory was also a source of satisfaction for Milojevic.
"I am glad we scored so many goals as they may come in handy later in the tournament."
Guam head coach Karl Dodd was left to rue on what it could have been.
"I am very proud of the team and how they played. We controlled large portions of the match and created enough chances to score goals," said Dodd.

"However, we needed to be ruthless (in front of goal) but we were not and when we made mistakes, the Philippines scored."
Two home defeats for Guam leaves their hopes in jeopardy and up next for them will be China PR away on October 10. Philippines will then host the AFC Asian Cup 2023 hosts five days later.
