Sanchez makes five changes to Qatar squad

Doha: Head coach Felix Sanchez has made five changes to the Qatar squad for their upcoming Asian Qualifiers Group E matches against Bangladesh and Oman.

Fahad Younes, Fahad Shnein, Mohamad Alaaeldin, Abdulrahman Mohamad and Ahmad Moein have been called up as Qatar bid to get their campaign back on a winning track after being held 0-0 by India on Matchday Two.

The reigning AFC Asian Cup champions had beaten Afghanistan 6-0 in their opening tie and Sanchez has named a strong squad for the twin challenges.

Forward Almoez Ali, with three goals to his name in the Qualifiers, and the impressive Akram Afif will lead the Qatar squad.

Qatar have, by virtue of being hosts, already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2020 and finishing as Group E winners will mean sealing their place in the Finals of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 early.

Qatar will travel to face Bangladesh on Thursday before hosting Oman five days later.

MD1 - Group E: Qatar vs Afghanistan

Both will be challenging ties as Bangladesh need a win after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Afghanistan in their opener while Oman showed their quality in their 2-1 win over India.

Oman will face Afghanistan on Thursday before travelling to Doha. Bangladesh will play India on October 15.
