Van Marwijk disappointed with UAE performance in Thailand defeat
Pathum Thani: Head coach Bert van Marwijk was not satisfied with United Arab Emirates' performance in their 2-1 defeat to Thailand in Group G of the Asian Qualifiers on Tuesday.
Teerasil Dangda gave Thailand the lead on 26 minutes before Ali Mabkhout leveled the scores in the dying seconds of the first half.
However, Ekanit Panya scored a goal six minutes after the break to hand UAE their first defeat in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Dutchman van Marwijk admitted he was disappointed with the performance of his side.
“I’m not satisfied with the performance that we had, although we could have still won,” van Marwijk said. “We had many scoring chances in the second period and in the last minutes of the match.
“Thailand deserved to win after their performance,” he added. “We tried our best to level the scores but we failed to convert the chances that we created.”
UAE started their campaign with two wins, coming from behind to defeat Malaysia 2-1 in Kuala Lumpur and then registering a comprehensive 5-0 win over Indonesia in Dubai.
Tuesday's defeat leaves them in third place behind Thailand and Vietnam.
Up next for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 semi-finalists is another away tie, against Vietnam on November 14.
