Al Ittihad on track for Al Hilal tie
Jeddah: José Luis Sierra’s Al Ittihad received a confidence boost ahead of the 2019 AFC Champions League quarter-finals by defeating Lebanon's Al Ahed in the first leg of the King Muhammed VI Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday.
Al Ittihad defeated Al Ahed 3-0 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, setting them up nicely for the kick-off of their 2019-20 Saudi Pro League campaign and 2019 AFC Champions League quarter-finals.
Al Ittihad open their domestic season with a home tie against Al Raed on Friday and then play domestic rivals Al Hilal SFC in the first leg of the 2019 AFC Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Against Al Ahed, Romarinho - Al Ittihad’s leading scorer in the 2019 AFC Champions League - set the tone in the 15th minute before goals from Manuel Da Costa and Aleksander Prijović gave the Saudi Pro League club a commanding lead at half-time.
Man of the match Prijović said the good start against Al Ahed was key to his side's comprehensive win over their Lebanese opponents.
“We expected how the other team would play and controlled the game after the first goal. We will focus our attention on the coming matches now."
Al Ittihad saw off the challenge of Islamic Republic of Iran's Zobahan FC in the Round of 16 and are now primed for what promises to be a thrilling 2019 AFC Champions League quarter-final with Al Hilal.
Al Ittihad have won the AFC Champions League twice - in 2004 and 2005.
