Doha: Al Sadd SC’s Nam Tae-hee is set to miss Monday’s AFC Champions League quarter-final showdown with Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Nassr through injury.

The 28-year-old Korea Republic international has been ruled out of the first-leg encounter at Riyadh’s King Fahd International Stadium after damaging a muscle in his left leg during the Qatari club’s Sheikh Jassim Cup win over domestic rivals Al Duhail SC on August 17.

Nam subsequently missed his side’s opening game of the new Qatar Stars League season and is now expected to be sidelined for a further three weeks according to a statement released by Al Sadd via their official digital media channels.

News of the midfielder’s enforced absence will come as a blow to head coach Xavi Hernandez after Nam, who was signed from Al Duhail in February, appeared in both legs of Al Sadd’s Round of 16 success against his former employers.

Al Sadd are scheduled to host the return leg in Doha on September 16.
