Shoja Khalilzadeh – Persepolis
vs Al Ahli, April 9, 2019

The 2018 runners-up Persepolis had endured a tough opening to their 2019 campaign but sprung into life on Matchday Three against Saudi side Al Ahli, with Shoja Khalilzadeh's stunning volley giving the Iranian team the lead in a 2-0 win.

Quick thinking, fine agility and perfect execution from the defender, whose strike was voted the goal of the tournament on the-AFC.com. Unfortunately, it proved the highlight for Persepolis as they exited at the group stage.

Lee Dong-gook – Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors
vs Kashiwa Reysol, April 22, 2015

The AFC Champions League's all-time leading scorer Lee Dong-gook boasts 37 goals to his name, but it's fair to say none are more spectacular than this overhead kick against Kashiwa Reysol.

Lee got his head on a deep cross from the right, adjusted his body and delivered a fabulous finish into the bottom left corner. With Jeonbuk 3-0 down, the only downside was the goal didn't receive the celebration it deserved.

Heverton – Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma
vs Nagoya Grampus, March 7, 2012

Having already scored on his AFC Champions League debut, Heverton ensured the Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma fans would never forget him when the Brazilian equalised against Nagoya Grampus in audacious fashion.

Chasing the game in stoppage time, compatriot Everton sent a speculative overhead kick towards Heverton, who connected perfectly with a second overhead kick in quick succession to secure a 2-2 draw.

Baghdad Bounedjah – Al Sadd
vs Nasaf, April 13, 2018

Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah equaled the AFC Champions League's all-time record for number of goals in a single campaign in 2018, with the Al Sadd striker netting 13 in total.

Al Sadd were 2-0 up and cruising against Nasaf on Matchday Four when Jugurtha Hamroun floated a lovely ball to the back post and Bounedjah did the rest, sending a bouncing scissors kick in off the post to kill the game.

Gilberto Macena – Buriram United
vs Guangzhou R&F, March 3, 2015

Is there a better way to win a match than scoring with an overhead kick in the last minute? Gilberto Macena may know the answer as that's exactly what he did for Buriram United in the 2015 group stage.

Having trailed at Guangzhou R&F, the Thai champions equalised before Brazilian brilliance won it as Macena held off his marker and acrobatically sent the ball home from 15 yards before celebrating in style.
