The decision of the 44-year-old coach comes just two days after Al Duhail’s defeat to Al Sadd in the Qatar Cup final.

After working as an assistant coach with European clubs Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United, Faria took charge of Al Duhail in January 2019 replacing Tunisian Nabil Maaloul.

Al Duhail are in Group C of the 2020 AFC Champions League with UAE’s Sharjah, Saudi Arabia's Al Taawoun and Persepolis FC of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
