Al Nassr gear up for Al Wahda tie

Riyadh: After an impressive performance domestically and on the Continental stage, Al Nassr have begun preparations for the 2019-20 season.

Al Nassr clinched an eighth Saudi Pro League title after an exciting race with Al Hilal Saudi FC, who had looked to be racing away mid season, but Al Nassr switched gears in the final six matches to overcome their Riyadh rivals to emerge champions.

Al Nassr also impressed in the 2019 AFC Champions League, finishing runners-up in Group B to seal their first Round of 16 appearance since 2011.

Up next for them are Al Wahda FSCC of United Arab Emirates in the Round of 16, with the first leg on August 5 and the return tie a week later.

Head coach Rui Vitoria will be aiming to not only defend their league title but also make history by reaching the next stage of the AFC Champions League.

Al Nassr started training for the upcoming season on Sunday and will travel to Portugal on Friday.

Their training stint in Portugal will include four friendly matches before they host the first leg of the Round of 16 tie.
