Nassar: Kuwait SC showed great discipline

Amman: Kuwait SC head coach Waleed Nassar hailed his side’s discipline in their 2-1 victory against Jordan’s Al Faisaly in the 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary One Stage on Tuesday.

Kuwait SC emerged winners after defender Fahad Alhajeri struck in the 119th after regulation time ended with 1-1 at the Amman International Stadium.

Nassar said Kuwait SC’s tactical discipline helped them advance to the Preliminary Stage Two where they will take on Islamic Republic of Iran's Esteghlal FC on Tuesday.

“We played reasonably well and the players showed great discipline tactically,” said Nassar in the post-match press conference.

"We faced quick opponents and we had to play with a similar style and put pressure on them,” he added. “We tried our best to stop their key players on the flanks and we managed to do so successfully."

"The players were physically fit and they were not affected by playing 120 minutes,” added the 50-year-old coach. “We managed to build the attacks from the back and the players were disciplined throughout the match.

"The win will give us a good push for the next match and we should prepare very well in order to continue in the competition," concluded Nassar.
