Alor Star: Malaysia's Kedah powered to a 5-1 win over Wofoo Tai Po of Hong Kong in the 2020 AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 2 on Tuesday.

A Kipré Tchétché hat-trick, coupled with Muhammad Hadin Azman's brace saw off a 10-men Wofoo Tai Po side as Kedah advanced to the AFC Champions League Playoff round against FC Seoul next Tuesday.

Buoyed by home support at the Darul Aman Stadium, Kedah took the lead as early as the fourth minute through Tchétché's effort, with the Ivorian forward slotting home his second in the 21st minute.

The visitors were dealt another blow in the 34th minute when Sun Ming Him received a direct red card, but were able to fend off the Kedah offence to enter the half-time break with only a two-goal deficit.

Two minutes into the second half, Azman found the back of the net to further Kedah's advantage, and the 25-year-old midfielder made it 4-0 in the 66th minute.

Wofoo Tai Po reduced the deficit through Chan Man Fai's effort two minutes later, but it was mere consolation as Tchétché sealed Kedah's emphatic win two minutes into added time.

Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak's Kedah are now one step closer to making their AFC Champions League group stage debut, but must first travel to Korea Republic to play FC Seoul in the Playoff.

Woofo Tai Po's Continental campaign is not over just yet, as they will play in Group H of the 2020 AFC Cup, where they will hope to progress into the knockout stage for the first time.
