Shanghai v Kawasaki

Kawasaki: The Japanese and Chinese champions Kawasaki Frontale and Shanghai SIPG will go head-to-head in Group H of the 2019 AFC Champions League at Kawasaki Todoroki Stadium on Tuesday.

The J.League side must avoid defeat or they will have their elimination confirmed with a game to spare, but victory would move them above the Chinese team ahead of the final round of fixtures.

Kei Chinan scored in the final 10 minutes to secure a 2-2 draw against Ulsan Hyundai two weeks ago and Kawasaki warmed up for Tuesday’s game with their fourth successive J.League victory – a 3-1 win over Vegalta Sendai on Friday.

Shanghai could progress with a victory but have not won since the opening game of the competition when they defeated Kawasaki 1-0, and they will be desperate to return to winning ways following successive draws with Sydney FC.

A 2-0 win over Guangzhou R&F on Saturday moved them to second place in the Chinese Super League as they attempt to keep pace with runaway leaders Beijing FC.

Tatsuya Hasegawa returns from suspension for the home side, meanwhile, although Lyu Wenjun is serving a one-game ban so will not travel to Japan with Shanghai.
